About Me
I have been working with individuals from across the lifespan, from toddlers through mature adults, for almost 20 years. Working with children in the foster care system early in my career taught me a great deal about attachment, trauma, child development and neurobiology. Once I had my own children, I transitioned to working with adults. I now enjoy using this skill set to help adult clients nurture the child within and create more secure attachments to themselves and others. In 2017 I added EMDR to my clinical tools, giving me a powerful modality to help clients resolve past trauma. I spent several years primarily as a trauma therapist focusing on helping people heal from experiences like childhood trauma, childhood emotional neglect, medical trauma, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.
In 2023, I crashed headlong into a personal experience with OCD. For the first time, my awareness and many skills as a therapist were not helping me. In the space of a few months, OCD almost completely derailed my life. I discovered I had probably had OCD all my life without realizing it. It was an incredible shock. But with the right support, including a tenacious OCD therapist, I was able to wrestle control back from OCD. It took many months of relentlessly practicing ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), but OCD is now firmly in the backseat.
In 2024, I received training in ERP and started professional OCD consultation so I can help other people free themselves from OCD. I am passionate about working to ensure people with OCD receive timely, effective, and compassionate care.
When I am not working with clients, I am adventuring with my husband and children, or playing with our many pets: a golden retriever named Calcifer, 8 rescue guinea pigs, 9 chickens, and a red-dragon of a chestnut mare called Reba. I also like sci-fi novels, nerdy TV shows, gardening, Disney merch, banana-cream-pie, and the beach.
